"Bless the Broken Road"
It is such a rare occasion that I encountered a beautiful love song like this. It is beautiful because it understands and knows that there is no true relationship unless God is in it. I sometimes wonder why there are no more of love songs that acknowledge God's presence in a relationship. Too many of love songs sung only tell about the horizontal relationship and forgetting that without the vertical relationship, it all means nothing. Simply nothing, no matter how beautiful that relationship seems to appear.
So, this one love song is special to me, it is beautifully sung by a group name Selah (remember this word in Psalm?). Do you want to check it out?

I set out on a narrow road many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
I wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
Chorus:
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were just northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
And led me straight to you
I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to take the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there, you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true
Bridge:
Now I'm just rolling home into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
And led me straight to you
Yes, God blessed the broken road
And led me straight to you
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road

I got married to an amazing man at the age of 34. It isn't that I didn't want to settle down before that, I just hadn't met "the one". It seems society kind of puts a stigma on those that are single and thirty-something or forty-something. Let me tell you, don't listen to everyone else. God's timing is perfect! He has a plan for each and everyone of us. "Bless the Broken Road" talks about all the different roads one goes down to find their true love. It could also be about how you met your best friend or how you found the Lord.
When I would get lonely and frustrated, waiting on my husband to come along, I always tried to remind myself of one very important thing. God is in control! He's always been there and always will be. I am so thankful I handed God the reigns because, with Him, I knew I'd go down the right path.

- Melodie Crittenden
Dear Lord, little does Melodie know how her sayings go closely along with a story of a little woman whom I once knew. A little woman whose broken road led her to one godly man of Yours. A little woman who only heaven knows why broke her every chance of knowing Your love through that lad. A little woman who got to learn about love in a really hard way yet she now knows of Your great love a little more. A little woman who is now to pass Your love through her broken-yet-redeemed road. Thank you Lord for a part of that little woman in me...
